Fire and Explosion Resistance: Safeguarding Critical Infrastructure
The 2023 explosion at a European embassy highlighted the catastrophic consequences of inadequate blast protection. Traditional glazing shattered, causing injuries and structural damage. KFORTS’ explosion-resistant and fire-resistant glass doors provide a dual-defense solution, compliant with EN 13123 (explosion resistance) and EN 1363-1 (fire resistance).
Our explosion-resistant glass utilizes laminated layers with shock-absorbing PVB interlayers, achieving EXR3 certification. Simultaneously, fire-resistant glazing maintains integrity for 120 minutes (EI60 rating), preventing flame spread and toxic smoke penetration—a critical feature for embassies and data centers.
KFORTS’ combined performances are engineered for high-risk environments. For example, our Security+ series integrates burglar-resistant (RC5) and bullet-resistant (BR5) properties into a single unit for overall safety. These glass doors also adhere to system building physics principles, ensuring thermal insulation (EN 10077) and acoustic damping (EN ISO 10140) without compromising safety.
