When Transparency Saves Lives: The Evolution of Bullet Proof and Blast Resistant Systems
High-profile violent incidents, such as the 2020 Vienna attack, have highlighted the life-saving role of bullet proof glazing in public spaces. KFORTS addresses this imperative with ballistic resistance systems certified to European standard EN 1063 (BR4–BR7). Our laminates, comprising layered glass and specialized polymer interlayers, arrest high-caliber rounds while minimizing spall—a critical factor in reducing secondary injuries.
For extreme threats, our blast resistant solutions adhere to EN 13123-13124, offering verified anti-explosion performance. The 2016 Brussels airport bombing demonstrated how blast proof glazing mitigates fragmentation hazards by maintaining structural integrity under pressure. These technologies are adaptable to diverse applications, including bullet resistant glass curtain walls for embassies and blast proof glass façades for government buildings. Every system incorporates framing certified to EN 1522/1523, ensuring end-to-end safety without compromising transparency or aesthetics. KFORTS’ expertise in material science enables reliable blast resistance that aligns with architectural vision while fulfilling rigorous pan-European norms.
